It’s a bittersweet day today. School is over, and both of my girls have excelled. I’m very proud of them, and amazed that they’re getting so much older when I’m not aging at all. 😉
However, I’ve only got about twenty-four hours until I send my girls down to Texas to spend the first part of the summer with our family down there. They’re going to be gone for six weeks. It seems like such a long time, and I’m really going to miss them! The house gets way too quiet without the pitter-patter-thud of not-so-little feet, and the excited squeals and unidentifiable sounds that come from having two girls in the house. That’s the bitter part.
The sweet part: in six weeks, I’ll be heading down there to get them. And to have book signings!! 😀 I’m celebrating the release of my first novel in Texas. It’s where I’m from, and where I most wanted to have my launch. I’ve still got friends and family down there, and I want them to be able to be a part of this first step in my brand-new adventure.
It’s going to be an interesting mix of old and new. I’m going to be signing books for people I’ve never met before, people who have known me since the first breath I took, and all things in between. I’m already anticipating the polite smiles of meeting strangers interspersed with the warm hugs of “I’ve missed you so much and it’s been so long.”
For the next six weeks, I get to try to get prepared for my book signings and (hopefully) finish the last book in my trilogy. I’m not nervous. Much. 😉 Starting on Monday, I’ll start telling you about the places where I’m going to have my first signings. I can’t wait to share them with you!
