Family Friday: My kids are gone; I’ve been set free

It’s Spring Break! I love Spring Break. More than that, I love that Grandpa and Grandma really love their grandchildren and want to spend time with them and are willing to keep them for the week of Spring Break. It’s so beautiful. 🙂

Our girls are spending the week with their grandparents, visiting friends and family. So, Honey and I are here alone. Just the two of us. No kids. Ssshhhhhh. Listen. You hear that? Yeah, neither do I. Isn’t it wonderful?

I’m sure I’ll start missing my kids soon. I always do. But, it never happens in the first three days. For the first three days, there’s this amazing feeling of awe that invades us. We’re kid free. We can do whatever we want.

…What do we want to do?

For the most part: nothing. We just enjoy the peace. And the extra sleep. (We love our children, but one of them is the bounce-out-of-bed-at-dawn-on-Saturday-mornings-ready-to-play type. That doesn’t work well for us. We’re both Saturday-morning slugs.) Eventually, we get around to going out, having a date-night or two, having friends over, watching movies with all the language that we don’t want our kids subjected to. You know, all of that adult stuff. 😉

So, if you need me, I’ll be sleeping. Possibly for the next two days straight. Honey can forage for himself in the kitchen. We’ll think of something fun to do come Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
