Starting the new year by rehashing the old ones

Since this is my first post on my new blog, I thought I should start by giving a little bit of background on myself and my inspirations for this blog.

Very early in 2000, at the age of just-barely-18, I became a wife. It was a huge milestone in my life, and something I’d always wanted to do. Of course, it helped quite a bit that I found a fantastic man who wanted to share his life with me. I was a wife!

Twenty-one months later, we became parents for the first time. Our first daughter was born, and we were thrilled. We had no clue what we were getting into, but we were thrilled! Four years after that, we had our second daughter. Having two children gave us our “standard” family of four, so we were content to stop there. I was a wife and a mother!

Fast forward another seven years, give or take. I was now a stay-at-home mother for two school-aged daughters, and a nanny for my twin nephews. While my girls were at school and the babies were sleeping, I started typing a young adult fantasy novel. One turned into two, and it’s going to wind up being three. On December 12th, 2013, I signed a contract with a publisher. Which I still can’t quite believe, but I’m thrilled about it! So, now I’m a wife, and a mother, AND a novelist! I’m a WiMoNo!

As my first book gets closer to being published, I’m going to be posting plenty of entries about it. Until then, this is a place where I can share my random odd thoughts and musings. I hope you enjoy them.

Have a happy, healthy, memorable, prosperous 2014!

  1. I love that WiMoNo! Congrats. I’m a fellow RHP author–and have a YA coming out too. 🙂 Congrats on starting your new blog. I can tell you have a busy and full life.

    • Thank you, Margo! You’re right, it is full and busy. And I love it that way! I’d much rather go to bed at the end of the night completely exhausted than to sit around the house wondering how I’m going to fill up my time. 🙂 Congratulations on your novel! I’ll look forward to reading it!
